Using Video Visits and Tablets (Party IDs & Getting Out) — What Families Should Know

Want to message your loved one or send photos? If they have an ICS tablet, you'll need a Getting Out (GTL) account. Set one up through the Getting Out app or website. Once that's done, you're ready for messaging and photo sharing when tablet services become available.

Note: The Getting Out account requirement is tied to tablet access. If your loved one doesn’t have an ICS tablet, this step may not apply yet.

A Party ID is the identifier that lets you register and schedule ICSolutions video visits. You don't create this number yourself - your loved one in custody gives it to their approved visitors. If registration asks for a Party ID and you don't have it, stop there. You'll need to get the exact ID from them before moving forward.

Using Video Visits and Tablets (Party IDs & Getting Out) — What Families Should Know

Registration and scheduling for video visits happens through ICSolutions. When you create your account and try to book a visit, you'll enter the Party ID assigned to you as an approved visitor. The ID must match exactly what the institution provided to your loved one - otherwise, registration or scheduling won't work.

Tip: If you’re having trouble registering or scheduling after you’ve confirmed the Party ID, contact ICSolutions customer service for account help.

During the ICS/ICSolutions rollout, timing matters for connection quality. If calls or video feel choppy, try scheduling them for off-peak hours - before 5:00 PM or after 9:00 PM. Less system strain means better performance while the platform continues to be optimized.

Before setting up messaging and photo sharing, confirm your loved one actually has an ICS tablet. The Getting Out account is specifically for communicating with someone who has tablet access. Ask them directly, or check with the institution.

Rollouts can be uneven - services sometimes come online in phases. If you're getting mixed messages about what's available, look for posted rollout updates for adult facilities before troubleshooting your account or schedule.
