How to Send Mail to Someone at New Hampshire State Prison for Men (NHSP‑M)
Mail is one of the easiest ways to stay connected—if you use the exact address format New Hampshire DOC expects. Follow the steps below to keep your letter from getting delayed or returned.
New Hampshire State Prison for Men (NHSP‑M) sits at 281 North State Street, Concord, NH 03301. That's the facility's street address - but it's not what you'll use for standard inmate mail.
Address your envelope using the DOC's required format: the person's full name on the first line, their DOC ID number on the second, then "NH State Prison" followed by the PO Box address. The PO Box matters - this is the mailing address the DOC lists for inmate mail.
Example address block: Inmate Name DOC ID # NH State Prison PO Box 14 Concord, NH 03302 (For reference, the facility’s street address is 281 North State Street, Concord, NH 03301.)
Keep your letter to ten (10) pages or fewer. Have more to say? Split it into two separate letters rather than going over the limit.
Use blue or black ink only. If you normally write in other colors, switch to blue or black for anything going to NHSP‑M.
Mail at New Hampshire DOC facilities follows the department's administrative rules for inmate mail and electronic messaging. The DOC also publishes facility mailing addresses and address requirements through its inmate communications information. Want to reach someone electronically? Inmates can receive email through the DOC's contracted vendor, but you'll need to get their email address directly from the inmate first.
Note: People in custody don't have internet access. Email (when available) goes through the DOC's vendor system - it's not the same as logging into a regular email account.
