How to Send Money to Someone at Nisqually Corrections (3 ways)

3 min read Verified from official sources

Nisqually Corrections accepts inmate money deposits three ways: online through the JailATM web deposits portal (used with Summit services), in person at the front-lobby kiosk, or by mailing a money order. Which option works best depends on what matters most to you: speed (online), convenience (kiosk), or sending funds from a distance (money order).

Heads up: Nisqually Corrections does not accept personally delivered correspondence or funds. Send anything permitted only through the U.S. Postal Service or an authorized carrier.

For the fastest option, use the JailATM web deposits portal. Funds go directly into the same system the facility uses for inmate accounts, so there's no delay waiting for processing.

You can also deposit by phone through Summit Food Services at 1-877-810-0914. All deposits must go through the automated services provided by Summit and Viapath. Don't try bringing cash or a payment to hand to staff directly. Before starting an online or phone deposit, have the inmate's full name ready (and their identifier, if you have it) so the money goes to the right account.

There's a deposit kiosk in the front lobby at Nisqually Corrections. If you're already at the facility, this is a convenient way to add funds without going online or mailing anything.

Reminder: The kiosk is part of the automated deposit process. The facility does not accept hand-delivered funds.

  1. Buy a money order - use a money order (not cash), and fill it out clearly.
  2. Write the inmate’s full name on it - the facility asks that the inmate’s full name be included on the money order.
  3. Mail it to the deposit address - send the money order to: 11702 Yelm Hwy SE, Olympia, WA 98513.

Mail risk: No property is accepted through the mail, and Nisqually Corrections is not responsible for cash or items lost through the mail.

Nisqually Corrections also has a separate mail address for letters and other approved items (not for money orders). Send inmate mail to: Nisqually Corrections, WA, Inmate Name, Inmate Identifier, P.O. Box 247, Phoenix, MD 21131.

What Not to Do

  • Do not try to personally deliver funds or correspondence to the facility.
  • Do not send cash through the mail.
  • Do not mail property to the facility (property is not accepted through the mail).
  • Do not assume the facility will replace anything lost in the mail (they are not responsible for cash or items lost through the mail).

Best practice: Stick to the approved automated channels (Summit/Viapath services, the online portal, or the lobby kiosk) to make sure your deposit processes correctly.

Practical Tips

  • Verify you have the inmate’s correct full name (and identifier, if available) before you submit a deposit.
  • If you are unsure which option to use, call Summit Food Services at 1-877-810-0914 or use the JailATM web deposits portal.
  • Keep your confirmation or receipt (online/phone) and keep a copy of your money order details before mailing.
