Getting Your 30-Day In-Person Visit Approved at NORCOR: A Complete Checklist

Getting Your 30-Day In-Person Visit Approved at NORCOR: A Complete Checklist

The 30-day rule is straightforward. Once an adult has been in NORCOR custody for 30 days or more, they can request a one-hour in-person visit with friends and family.

Your loved one has to initiate the request - you can't do it for them. They submit it through ViaPath as a request to the Sergeant, listing each visitor's name and relationship. Missing details can slow things down, so have them double-check everything before hitting submit.

Figure out your group before your loved one submits the request. NORCOR caps these visits at either four total visitors or two adults plus two children - whichever applies. If you're bringing kids, that second limit matters. Make sure the names in the ViaPath request match exactly who you plan to bring.

Note: Entry requirements can vary, so bring any ID or paperwork you might need. Keep your visit group consistent with the approved list.

Once a Sergeant approves the visit, the ball's in your court. Call the NORCOR administration office during regular business hours to schedule your appointment.

Verify before you go: One NORCOR page lists lobby hours as Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm, but another page says the lobby is closed until further notice. Confirm the current lobby status before you rely on posted hours or make an in-person plan.

Practical Checklist Visitors

  • Confirm your loved one has been in NORCOR custody 30+ days and has submitted the ViaPath request to the Sergeant
  • Make sure the ViaPath request includes every visitor’s name and their relationship to the adult in custody
  • Keep your group within the limit: up to four visitors total, or two adults and two children
  • Wait for Sergeant approval - then call the NORCOR administration office during regular business hours to schedule
  • Plan to be in the jail lobby visitation area 5 minutes before your scheduled visit time
  • Check lobby availability before you travel: one page lists Monday–Friday 8:00am–5:00pm hours, but another says the lobby is closed until further notice

Stuck? Two things usually solve it: call administration during regular business hours to schedule, and verify the lobby is actually open. NORCOR's website shows conflicting info - one page lists Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm, another says "closed until further notice." Confirm before you show up.
