How to Set Up Your First Video Visit at NORCOR (Telmate / GettingOut)

NORCOR uses Telmate's video visitation system—adult in-custody visits are video-only. Your first visit will go smoothly if you pick the right visit type (remote vs. lobby), set up your login, and handle payment and confirmation before your appointment.

NORCOR has moved adult in-custody visitation to video-only through Telmate. No traditional face-to-face visits here - you'll connect by video either from the facility or your own device. Two options: visit on-site using Telmate video tablets in the NORCOR Administration lobby, or do a remote video visit from anywhere with internet access. For most families, remote visits are the easier choice. No travel, no waiting in a lobby - just connect from home.

For remote visits, you'll need a computer with high-speed internet, a webcam, microphone, and speakers - or an Android device. Test your camera and audio before your scheduled time so you're not troubleshooting when the visit starts. Good news: there's no limit to how many remote visits you can schedule. The catch? Time slots are first-come, first-serve. If you see an opening that works, grab it.

  • Create your Telmate (GettingOut) login before you try to schedule: set it up online at GettingOut or by using the Telmate kiosk in the facility lobby.
  • When you’re ready to sign in (including at a lobby tablet), you’ll use either your phone number and Telmate 6-digit PIN, or an email address and password.
  • If you’re using a lobby visitation tablet, double-tap the screen to activate it before you try to log in.

Three ways to schedule a video visit at NORCOR: use a lobby visitation station during regular business hours, schedule online from your home computer at GettingOut, or use the GETTINGOUT VISITS app on a tablet or smartphone.

Reminder: Remote video visit times are first-come, first-serve, even though there’s no limit to the number of remote visits you can schedule.

Planning to pay for the visit yourself? Add money to your account first. NORCOR requires funds on your verified Friends & Family phone number/account before you can schedule.

  • When the system asks who will pay, choose carefully.
  • If you want to use an adult in custody’s free visiting minutes, select that the adult in custody will pay for the visit.
  • Once you select “adult in custody pays,” they can apply their free minutes toward the visit (if they choose).
  1. Activate the visitation tablet - Double-tap either visitation tablet in the admin lobby to wake it up.
  2. Log in to your Telmate account - Sign in using either your phone number and Telmate 6-digit PIN, or your email address and password.

After scheduling, don't assume you're all set. NORCOR requires the adult in custody to confirm all visits before they can happen. Give your loved one a heads-up so they can confirm on their end. For free visits or any on-site visit, timing is strict. Be in the jail lobby visitation area at least five minutes before your scheduled start time. That's the minimum - earlier is better.

Verify before you go: NORCOR's Money & Property page says the lobby is closed until further notice, but another NORCOR page lists normal lobby hours (Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm). Call ahead to confirm the current lobby/kiosk status before planning an on-site visit.
