How to Set Up Phone Calls with Someone at North Dakota State Penitentiary
Setting up phone calls at North Dakota State Penitentiary (NDSP) comes down to two things: getting on your loved one's approved calling list and deciding who pays for the calls.
When someone first arrives in the North Dakota Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (ND DOCR) system for orientation at NDSP, they get two 5-minute phone calls right away. After that, any additional calls require going through the normal approval and payment process.
To receive calls, you need to be added to the resident's calling list. ND DOCR requires a completed and signed Telephone Application. You can fill it out electronically, or download a printable PDF to complete by hand and mail in.
Plan ahead. ND DOCR asks you to allow 14 days for application processing and phone number verification. Submit the application as soon as you can to avoid extra waiting.
Mailing a paper Telephone Application for NDSP or another ND DOCR facility? Send it to: Securus Digital Mail Center - ND Department of Corrections, PO Box 21408, Tampa, FL 33622. The one exception is Dakota Women's Correctional and Rehabilitation Center (DWCRC), which has a different mailing address listed in the application instructions.
One option is for the resident to pay. At ND DOCR, residents purchase phone time using their commissary account. If you're not planning to cover calls on your end, this is typically how your loved one will keep their phone time available.
Want to cover the cost yourself? You'll need to set up a collect-call account. ND DOCR directs approved callers who want to pay to create an account through Securus Technologies.
You can set up a Securus collect-call account online at securustech.net or by calling 1-800-844-6591. Once your number is approved on the resident's calling list, this account lets you accept and pay for collect calls.
