What's Changing at Northampton County Jail on June 1, 2025: Entry Procedure Notice for Visitors

Northampton County Jail has announced that entry procedures change on June 1, 2025. This applies to everyone - professional visitors, personal visitors, and volunteers. If you're planning a visit on or after that date, the check-in process will be different, even if you've visited before.

Source: This effective-date notice appears in the jail visitation information published by Northampton County Jail.

The published notice confirms the effective date and who it applies to. What it doesn't spell out - at least in the excerpt - is what's actually changing. Don't assume it's minor (or major) until you've seen the full notice yourself.

Heads up: Don’t rely on rumors or “what worked last time.” If you don’t have the full notice in front of you, treat the details as unconfirmed and verify before you go.

  1. Check the jail visitation information for the full notice - The entry procedure changes are announced there with an effective date of June 1, 2025, and it indicates there are details to review.
  2. Read any linked “details” carefully before you leave - If the notice includes an attachment or expanded text, use that version as your guide for what to expect at the door.
  1. Call (610) 829-7402 before your visit - Ask for the complete text of the June 1, 2025 entry procedure changes and whether anything about check-in has changed for your type of visit.
  2. Confirm what you need to bring and when to arrive - A quick phone check can save you a wasted trip if the updated entry process requires something different at the front desk.

Before you head out, check for any linked attachment or "click here for details" page with the complete notice. If you only see the headline and effective date, dig one step deeper - or call the facility directly - so you're not caught off guard at check-in.

Precautionary Items

  • Valid photo ID showing your current address
  • Jeans or slacks (acceptable dress)
  • If you wear a skirt, dress, or shorts: make sure it’s no more than 2 inches above the knee and worn at the waist
  • A top that completely covers your torso; shirts/blouses should cover from neck to arm and either hang lower than slacks/skirts or be tucked in
  • Clothing that is not excessively tight

In the meantime, plan around the posted visit rules. Each inmate may have one adult visitor (18 or older) and up to two children per visit. Visits last 45 minutes. Build in extra time - if you're late, your visit will be canceled.

Sign-up times depend on where the person you're visiting is housed. For Main Prison and Tower areas, sign-ups run from 6:30 AM until 15 minutes before the visit starts. Work Release sign-ups begin 30 minutes before the scheduled time. West Easton sign-ups happen on the hour during the visitation period.
