Bringing Children to Visit at Northeast Oklahoma Correctional Center: What Documents You Need and When Kids Must Apply

Bringing Children to Visit at Northeast Oklahoma Correctional Center: What Documents You Need and When Kids Must Apply

Bringing a minor? You'll need documentation that proves guardianship. ODOC accepts birth certificates, court papers, or adoption documents. Have these ready - staff may turn you away at check-in without them, especially if your last name doesn't match the child's.

Note: Everyone - inmates and visitors, including children - goes through a pat search before visitation. Factor this into your visit prep.

Every visitor at NEOCC needs approval before visiting, starting with a Visitor Application Form. Once your child turns 18, they're no longer covered under your visit - they'll need to submit their own application.

The rules change at 18. Adults must pass a background check to get approved, and that process can take up to eight weeks. If your teen's birthday is coming up, start the paperwork early. Otherwise, visits could be paused while you wait for approval.

Plan ahead: Background-check approval can take up to eight weeks.

Practical Checklist

  • Documentation to verify guardianship for the minor (examples ODOC gives: birth certificate or court/adoption papers)
  • Be prepared for pat searches on all inmates and visitors before visitation

Every visitor must submit a Visitor Application Form before visiting - no exceptions. If you're mailing a paper application, address it to the Visitation Unit (not the inmate): Oklahoma Department of Corrections Attn: Visitation Unit P.O. Box 11400 Oklahoma City, OK 73136-0400.

Once the background check clears, the inmate will let you know. They'll also tell you the scheduled date and time of your visit.
