Before scheduling anything, confirm the person you want to visit is actually housed at Northern Correctional Institution. Connecticut DOC recommends using the DOC Inmate Search to verify facility location first - this prevents you from requesting a visit through the wrong facility.

You'll need a device that runs Microsoft Teams - smartphone, laptop, or tablet - with a working camera and microphone. Test everything ahead of time. Open Teams, check your audio and video, and make sure it all works before your scheduled visit.

You'll also need a valid email address. That's how you'll receive visit-related messages, so use one you check regularly.

One thing that trips people up: your visit isn't officially scheduled until you get confirmation from the facility. After submitting your request, watch your inbox closely so you don't miss it.

On visit day, join at least 15 minutes early. Staff need that time to screen and verify you before the visit starts. Show up late and you risk losing your visit entirely.
