Scheduling an Attorney Visit at Northern Neck Regional Jail: Contact vs. Video

Northern Neck Regional Jail offers scheduled attorney contact (in-person) visits. To set one up, you’ll schedule by phone: call 804-333-6419 and select option 3 during Monday–Friday regular business hours to be transferred to a jail representative who can help with the appointment. Once scheduled, contact visits are available any day (Monday–Sunday) during set time blocks.

The jail also offers attorney video visits, but the process is different: you must register and be approved as an attorney on the facility’s Attorney Visitation website before you can schedule any video appointment. Video visits need to be scheduled at least one day ahead, and you can choose a 15-, 30-, or 60-minute session based on what you need. These attorney video visits are not recorded and are not monitored by staff.

Scheduled attorney contact visits are available Monday through Sunday in three daily windows: 9:00–11:00 AM, 1:30–4:00 PM, and 7:00–10:00 PM. If you’re trying to fit a visit around court or travel, those blocks are the times to plan around.

1. Call the jail scheduling line - Dial 804-333-6419.
2. Select the right phone option - Choose option 3.
3. Call during business hours on weekdays - Schedule Monday–Friday during regular business hours so you can be transferred.
4. Work with the jail representative - You’ll be transferred to a jail representative who will assist with scheduling your contact (in-person) attorney visit.

Before you can book an attorney video visit, you’ll need to be registered and approved as an attorney through the facility’s Attorney Visitation website. As part of that approval process, attorneys must submit a photo of themselves and their bar card. Appointments can’t be scheduled until that approval is completed, so it’s worth handling registration early if you think you’ll need video time on short notice.

1. Prepare a signed letter on attorney letterhead - Include the assistant’s name and function.
2. Add the visit date - List the date of the visit.
3. Include the required assurance - State that the assistant has no personal relationship to the inmate(s) being visited.
4. Sign the letter - The attorney must sign.
5. Fax it to the Chief of Security - Send to 804-333-6029 at least one business day (Mon–Fri) prior to the visit.

On the day of the visit, the assistant must present a valid photo ID or driver’s license.

If you need phone contact, Northern Neck Regional Jail allows attorneys to leave telephone messages for clients by calling (804) 333-6419 ext. 5005 Monday–Friday during regular business hours. When you call, be ready to provide your name, Bar Association number, the client’s name, a call time, and the phone number where you can be reached; once verified, the attorney number will be secured from recording.
