How to Send Money to Facility
Sending money is pretty straightforward once you have the right ID number and know which payment option to use.
The most important detail you need is the incarcerated person's TDOC ID. Every payment has to reference a valid TDOC ID so the funds get credited to the right account. The vendor handling the transaction is responsible for verifying that reference.
All funds go through approved third-party vendors, not a facility-run cashier window. You have several options depending on what works best for you: send a money order by mail to a vendor P.O. Box, pay by credit or debit card through the vendor's secure website, call the vendor's toll-free customer service phone line, use the vendor's mobile app, or make a payment in person at select retail outlets that subcontract with the vendor.
Steps to Follow
- ✓ Get the correct TDOC ID for the person you’re sending money to, and use it exactly as required on the payment.
- ✓ Pick a payment method the approved vendor accepts: money order by mail to the vendor’s P.O. Box, card payment online, by phone, in the mobile app, or at a participating retail outlet.
- ✓ Follow the vendor’s instructions for how to format the recipient information (especially the TDOC ID) so the funds can be matched and credited.
- ✓ Keep your receipt or confirmation details so you can track the payment if there’s a problem.
Note: If the TDOC ID is missing or wrong, the payment may not be credited correctly. Double-check the TDOC ID before you submit anything.
Before you send money, confirm the vendor details for whatever method you plan to use. For money orders, that means the exact P.O. Box address and any required reference information. For card payments, check whether you're using the vendor's secure website, toll-free customer service line, or mobile app, and make sure you know what information to enter so the payment references the correct TDOC ID. Planning to pay in person? Verify that the retail location is one of the select outlets that subcontract with the vendor, and ask what you need to bring to complete the transaction.
- ✓ Confirm the correct TDOC ID to use, including how it should appear on the payment.
- ✓ For mailed money orders, confirm the exact vendor P.O. Box mailing address and what recipient details must be written on the money order.
- ✓ For card payments (online, phone, or app), confirm the required fields you must complete so the payment references the TDOC ID.
- ✓ Ask how to verify the money was posted to the account (and what timeframe to expect).
- ✓ Keep any proof of payment (receipt, confirmation number, or tracking information).
