How to Get Someone on an Inmate's Visitor List at NWSCF (limits, timing, transfers)

Getting on someone's approved visitor list at Northwest State Corrections Facility (NWSCF) depends on a few DOC rules: how many names are allowed, how often the list can change, what happens after an in-state transfer, and a special exception for certified religious visitors.

How to Get Someone on an Inmate's Visitor List at NWSCF (limits, timing, transfers)

NWSCF caps each inmate's approved visiting list at ten people. That limit is strict, and it excludes anyone who was a victim of the inmate's charge or offense. If the list is already full and you want to get added, someone else has to come off first - the maximum stays at ten.

Changes to the visitor list can only happen every 90 days. Adding someone new - or removing someone - usually means waiting for the next window. Be thoughtful about who goes on the list. You can't update it week to week.

If the person you're visiting transfers to another in-state facility, their current visitor list stays active for 30 days. After that, a new list must be submitted to the new facility. Plan for two phases: the first 30 days when existing approvals carry over, then the point when the new facility needs an updated list to keep visits going.

Here's an exception that matters for families and faith communities: certified religious visitors. An inmate can have one certified religious visitor on their list, and that person doesn't count toward the ten-slot limit. Their visits don't use up the inmate's standard weekly visit either. Certified religious visitors can visit once a week, separate from regular social visits.
