Last names A–D visit on Saturday from 08:30 to 10:30. The facility uses these blocks to manage visitor flow, so stick to your assigned window.

Last names E–L visit Saturday from 13:00 to 15:00. Arrive during the morning A–D block and you'll be too early to check in.

Last names M–R are scheduled for Sunday from 08:30 to 10:30 - note that's a different day than the Saturday groups.

Last names S–Z visit Sunday from 13:00 to 15:00. Don't confuse this with the Saturday afternoon slot.

Unit #1 has an evening slot on Saturday from 19:00 to 20:30. If your loved one is housed there, this is your time.

Unit #2 visits Sunday evening from 19:00 to 20:30. This is a unit-based slot - match the time to the housing unit, not just the last-name group.

Quick schedule recap: A–D: Saturday 08:30–10:30; E–L: Saturday 13:00–15:00; M–R: Sunday 08:30–10:30; S–Z: Sunday 13:00–15:00; Unit #1: Saturday 19:00–20:30; Unit #2: Sunday 19:00–20:30.

Each visit maxes out at two hours under Vermont DOC policy. Even if things are running smoothly, plan accordingly.

Vermont DOC requires at least six hours of visiting time per week. Northern State's posted schedule meets that requirement.

Want the full policy details? The Vermont DOC Administrative Directive on Inmate Visits covers everything - visit structure, the six-hour weekly minimum, and the two-hour visit cap. Northern State directs visitors there for rules and procedures.

  • Match the visit window to the incarcerated person’s last-name group (A–D, E–L, M–R, or S–Z) before you travel.
  • If the person is in Unit #1 or Unit #2, confirm whether the unit-based evening slot is the one you should use.
  • Re-check the facility’s visiting information page close to your travel day so you’re working from the current posted schedule.
  • Keep the two-hour maximum visit length in mind when you plan your day.
