Northwestern Regional Adult Detention Center

All visits at Northwestern Regional Adult Detention Center happen through video—either on-site at the facility or remotely through GettingOut (www.gettingout.com). On-site hours (effective 7/7/2025) are weekdays 8:30 AM–11:00 AM and 2:00 PM–3:15 PM. Show up late and you won't get in—no visitors admitted after 11:00 AM or 3:15 PM. On-site visits can last up to 30 minutes; remote on-demand visits are capped at 15 minutes. You'll need to be on the inmate's approved visitor list and bring a current photo ID. Minors must be accompanied by an adult 21 or older, and group-size limits apply. Follow the dress code and contraband rules, use the lockers provided, and know that all visits are recorded. Misconduct can get your privileges suspended—or worse, lead to criminal prosecution.

Northwestern Regional Adult Detention Center provides inmate tablets. Some features are free, but paid options—games, movies, music, video visits, phone calls, and messaging—require funds added online. You can also deposit money in person at two Inmate Banker Kiosks in the main lobby, available 24/7 and accepting cash or cards. These kiosks let you fund tablets, phone numbers, or commissary accounts. All visits happen through video, with both on-site and remote on-demand options. For remote visits, register an account at www.gettingout.com to schedule or join. Before you start, confirm the vendor, create and verify your account, add funds if needed, and contact the vendor (not facility staff) for any billing or technical issues.

Send all inmate mail and money orders to: Inmate Name, 141 Fort Collier Road, Winchester, Virginia 22603. Put the inmate's full name on the envelope and your complete return address in the upper left corner. Keep the envelope plain—no extra pictures, images, or words on the outside. Mail can't exceed A4 size (8 ½ x 14) or 2 ounces, so oversized greeting cards, large drawings, and heavy bundles get returned. Photos are allowed but scanned to the inmate's tablet; nothing vulgar, obscene, or gang-related. Books and magazines? Only accepted when shipped directly from an approved source: Amazon (no third-party marketplace sellers), SureShot Books, or Thriftbooks. Money orders must include your full name and address plus the inmate's full name. Cash, personal checks, and blank money orders get sent back. If your mail is rejected, you can appeal through the grievance process or send a copy of the DC138 rejection notice to the Captain of Security.

To add money at Northwestern Regional Adult Detention Center, use the two Inmate Banker kiosks in the main lobby—available 24/7 for cash or card—or deposit online through ConnectNetwork (listed as NW Regional VA – Adult Detention, site ID 7). You can also mail a USPS money order for commissary deposits.
