Bring a valid, government-issued photo ID. Staff at Nueces County Jail will check it before letting you in, and expired or unofficial IDs won't cut it.

You also need to be on the inmate's visitation list. Show up without being listed and you'll be turned away, even if everything else checks out.

Heads up: If you've been incarcerated at Nueces County Jail within the last six months, you won't be allowed to visit.

Dress Code Prohibitions

  • No shorts
  • No sleeveless shirts or dresses
  • No spandex pants, spandex shorts, or other form-fitting clothes
  • Skirts must be below the knees
  • No low-cut, backless, or transparent shirts

Leave hats and sunglasses at home or in the car. They are not allowed inside the facility.

Keep in mind: No personal checks are accepted. Money, checks, and money orders will not be accepted through the Jail Information Booth, at the McKinzie Jail Annex, or during visitation hours.

Bringing a child? Plan around the one-to-one rule: only one child per adult visitor is allowed each visit.

The adult accompanying a child must be on the inmate's visitation list. If they're not listed, you can be denied entry even if the child is approved to visit.

  1. Arrive early enough to check in: You must arrive and check in 25 minutes prior to the end of visitation.
  2. Treat that cutoff as firm: If you show up too close to the end of visitation, you may miss your chance for that session.

Heads up: Once you walk out of the facility, your visit is over for that session. There's no stepping out and coming back in.

Visitation at Nueces County Jail is treated as a privilege, not a right. Staff can refuse entry to anyone, and you're expected to follow all directives while you're there.
