When Can You Visit at Nueces County Jail? Weekend Rotations, Unit Times, and the New Weekday Schedule
Visitation at Nueces County Jail depends on the day, time block, and—on weekends—whether the inmate's last name falls A–L or M–Z. Check the schedule below and plan around the check-in cutoff to avoid losing your visit.
Weekend visits at the Main Jail & Annex run in set time blocks, with some rotating by the inmate's last name. On Saturday, last names A–L visit from 9:30 am–10:30 am. Last names M–Z follow from 11:00 am–12:30 pm. There's also a general population block from 1:00 pm–2:30 pm. Sunday flips the morning order: M–Z visits from 9:30 am–10:30 am, then A–L from 11:00 am–12:30 pm. Before you make the drive, confirm which rotation applies to your loved one's last name. Showing up during the wrong block is one of the easiest ways to waste a trip.
Reminder: For any visitation session, you must arrive and check in at least 25 minutes before the session ends - late check-ins can cost you the visit.
Certain housing units have their own weekend schedule outside the rotation blocks. Units 4D, 5D, 5E, 5G, 5H, and 5J visit from 3:30 pm–4:30 pm on both Saturday and Sunday. If your loved one is housed in one of these units, skip the morning rush and plan for that late-afternoon window.
- ✓ For units 5D, 5E, 5G, 5H, 5J, 4D, and 1P, arrive and check in between 3:00 pm and 3:30 pm for the 3:30 pm–4:30 pm weekend visitation block.
- ✓ For any visitation session, you still must be checked in 25 minutes before the end of the session - missing the cutoff can mean you won’t be allowed in.
Starting June 21, 2025, Nueces County Jail is adding weekday visitation for certain 4th- and 5th-floor units. Units 4A, 4B, 4C, 4G, 4H, 4J, 4K, 4M, 4N, 5A, 5B, 5C, 5F, 5K, and 5L will have visits on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 pm–7:30 pm. General population inmates will use the visitation areas and phones on their respective floors. If weekends don't work for your schedule, this new option might. Just make sure you match the correct day and time to the unit.
Exception: Under the June 21, 2025 schedule change, Administrative Segregation will continue to utilize the attorney booths for visitation.
The check-in deadline is firm: arrive and check in at least 25 minutes before the session ends. Staff need time to process visitors and get everyone through. Show up too close to the cutoff - even by just a few minutes - and you risk being turned away.
