OCCC Visiting Rules: Understanding the Two-Visitor Limit and One-Visit-per-Week Policy
OCCC's visit rules are straightforward—but the two-visitor maximum and once-a-week limit catch families off guard. Here's how those rules actually work, what they mean for kids, and how to plan visits without wasting a trip.
At OCCC,
Reminder: You must arrive and check in 15 minutes before the scheduled visit. Build that into your plan so your two-person group can get processed without cutting into your time.
OCCC allows one visit per inmate, per week. Coordinate with other family members or friends before anyone schedules - otherwise, someone might use up the weekly slot before the person you were hoping could visit.
Visits at OCCC last 30 minutes and are non-contact. With only half an hour, come ready to talk - think through the updates you want to share and the questions you need answered. Since it's non-contact, set expectations with kids and first-time visitors beforehand so no one is caught off guard.
Good to know: OCCC sanitizes the visitation area between each visit session, which can be reassuring if you’re worried about health and shared spaces.
Two rules shape everything: one visit per inmate per week, and no more than two visitors at a time (kids included). Together, that means you need to be intentional about who goes each week. Some families rotate visitors so everyone gets face time over the month. Others keep the same two-person pair - especially when one person is the steady communicator and the other supports a child or older family member.
- ✓ Decide your two-person visiting pair before you schedule (especially if a child is coming).
- ✓ If multiple people want to visit, rotate by week so the once-a-week visit slot doesn’t turn into last-minute conflict.
- ✓ Plan a short list of must-talk topics so the 30 minutes doesn’t disappear on small talk.
- ✓ Coordinate transportation and childcare early so your chosen two visitors can actually arrive together and on time.
- ✓ If a child is visiting, talk through what “non-contact” means ahead of time so the visit feels less stressful for them.
Plan for check-in: Arrive and check in 15 minutes before your scheduled time. When visits are tightly scheduled, being late can cost you the visit.
OCCC schedules visits seven days a week (excluding State holidays) from 7:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Even with that window, schedules can shift based on operational needs - don't assume your usual day and time will always hold. If you're traveling far, taking time off work, or bringing a child, confirm that visits will run as scheduled before you head out.
- Call to schedule - Contact (808) 832-1633 to schedule a visit.
- Call during the scheduling window - The scheduling line is available 0900–1200, Monday–Friday.
- Use the same number to confirm changes - If you’re unsure whether visits will be held as scheduled, call (808) 832-1633 before you go.
Why time slots can feel limited: OCCC’s main facility uses staggered visit blocks (for example, separate blocks for General Population and specific modules), so the available times can depend on where the person is housed.
