Contact Visits at Ocean County Jail: Who Qualifies and How to Request One

Ocean County Jail offers contact visits on Fridays during two windows: 8:00 AM–9:00 AM and 5:00 PM–6:00 PM. Planning a weekday visit? Those are your only options.

Saturday contact visits run from 8:00 AM–10:00 AM. The window is short, so plan your morning around it.

Sunday contact visits are 8:00 AM–10:00 AM, but they're restricted. Ocean County Jail only permits Sunday contact visits for incarcerated people who qualify as a primary caregiver. Don't count on Sunday unless that applies.

Visits are scheduled in 30-minute intervals, but the actual visit time is just 15 minutes. The extra time allows a Correctional Officer to conduct a search between visits. Arrive prepared - there's no cushion if check-in runs slow.

Contact Visits at Ocean County Jail: Who Qualifies and How to Request One

You'll need to plan ahead. Ocean County Jail requires contact visit requests at least 14 days before your requested date. Last-minute requests won't make the schedule.

Send your request to the classification unit - that's where Ocean County Jail processes contact visit requests. If it doesn't reach classification at least 14 days in advance, you've missed the deadline.

  • Each visitor’s full name
  • Each visitor’s date of birth
  • Each visitor’s Social Security number

Keep your group small: Ocean County Jail allows a maximum of two adult visitors per contact visit. If more than two adults want to come, plan separate visits instead of trying to swap people at the door.

Dress Code Denials

  • No tank tops
  • No flip flops/high heels
  • No short skirts/shorts (must be at or below the knee)
  • No low cut shirts
  • No jackets
  • No purses
  • No cellphones
  • No dangling earrings
  • No exposed midriffs

Note: Ocean County Department of Corrections can deny visitors for inappropriate attire. With visits capped at 15 minutes, a dress-code issue can cost you the whole visit.

Here's the full schedule: Friday 8:00 AM–9:00 AM and 5:00 PM–6:00 PM, Saturday 8:00 AM–10:00 AM, and Sunday 8:00 AM–10:00 AM (primary caregivers only). Slots are scheduled every 30 minutes, but actual visit time is 15 minutes - the rest is for security searches between visits.

If you need to cancel, don’t wait until the last minute. Cancellations must be submitted by 12:00 PM on the Wednesday before the requested visit.

Practical Tips Form Who to List

  • Full name for each visitor you want listed
  • Date of birth for each visitor
  • Social Security number for each visitor
  • A plan that keeps the visit to two adult visitors maximum
  1. Fill out the contact visit request completely - include every visitor’s required information so the request is ready to be processed.
  2. Submit the request to the classification unit early - it must be received at least 14 days before the date you’re requesting.
  3. Lock in your plans only after the visit is set - the schedule is tight, with 15-minute visits inside 30-minute intervals.
  4. Cancel by the Wednesday cutoff if you can’t make it - cancellations must be submitted by 12:00 PM on the Wednesday before the requested visit.
