Ocean County Jail Mail & Money Rules: What You Can Send and How to Provide Funds

All letters to Ocean County Jail must be on plain white paper, written in pen ink only. Every piece of incoming mail is searched, so keep it simple. If staff find prohibited items - controlled dangerous substances, weapons, or information about criminal activity - the mail goes straight to evidence and gets forwarded for investigation.

  • Greeting cards
  • Drawings made with crayons, colored pencils, or similar
  • Any type of stickers

Good news: there's no limit on how much mail an inmate can send or receive. Write as often as you'd like - just stick to plain white paper and pen ink.

Don't mail photos to Ocean County Jail. The facility prohibits all photos sent through U.S. Mail, and they'll be returned to you.

Note: Photos sent through the facility’s tablets can still be rejected if they’re considered offensive in nature.

Want to help with commissary? Don't bring cash to the jail or mail it in - Ocean County Jail won't accept either. Money orders and checks are also rejected. Cash sent through the mail won't reach the inmate and will only create problems.

Since mailed or drop-off funds aren't accepted, use the jail's approved electronic deposit options instead. You can find these through their inmate information resources. Need help confirming what's currently accepted, or looking for inmate details like bail or charges? Call Ocean County Jail at (732) 929-2043.
