Video visits at Ocean County Jail: hours, tech requirements, and what to expect

Weekday video visits run Monday through Friday, 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. If you're working around a job or school schedule, this evening window is your option.

Weekend hours are earlier: Saturday and Sunday, 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. These slots fill up fast, so check for openings as soon as you're ready to book.

Limit: Each eligible inmate can have two 15-minute video visits per week. The jail caps visits at two weekly due to time constraints, space limits, and social distancing guidelines.

You'll need a computer or Android device with internet access, a working camera, and speakers. Test your setup before your scheduled time - make sure video and audio work without cutting out.

The jail's system requires Adobe Flash enabled in your browser. Their guidance recommends Internet Explorer 11 - if you hit problems on another browser, switching to IE11 may fix it.

  • Use a headset or earbuds (the jail highly recommends them) to cut down on feedback and make the conversation easier to hear.
  • Run the Visit Tester ahead of time so you can confirm your camera, microphone, and audio work correctly with Flash before the visit starts.

Arriving for an on-site video visit? You can only enter 15 minutes before your scheduled start time. Once inside, stay behind the marked boundaries in the lobby - staff use those lines to keep things moving.

Expect screening before you’re allowed into the visiting area. All visitors must clear a metal detector and a thermal scanner, and you may be searched as part of the check-in process.

Health step: You’re required to sanitize your assigned video visitation station before and after your visit using the cleaning supplies the facility provides.

Need to cancel? Do it at least 24 hours before your visit - that's the jail's requirement.

When booking, pay attention to available time slots and pick one you can actually keep. Between the limited schedule and the 24-hour cancellation rule, double-check your calendar before confirming.
