Ocean County Jail Video Visits: scheduling, cost, tech setup, and privacy
Video visits are one of the quickest ways to stay connected with someone at Ocean County Jail. They go a lot smoother when you know the schedule, the booking window, and what the system records. Here's how it all works.
Weekday video visitation at Ocean County Jail runs Monday through Friday, 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. If you're fitting a visit around work or school, that evening window is your only weekday option.
Weekend hours are Saturday and Sunday, 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. These slots fill up fast, so book as soon as your scheduling window opens.
Each inmate is allowed two 15-minute video visits per week. If multiple family members want time, coordinate ahead so you don't burn through both slots on the first two bookings.
A paid video visit runs 16 minutes and costs $4.00. The system shows availability and pricing when you schedule. The jail notes that prices and times are subject to change.
Before you can book anything, you need to pre-register through the video visitation website (or at the visiting kiosk) and be on the inmate's approved visitor list. If you're not showing up as eligible to schedule, the approved list is the first thing to check.
You can schedule visits online through the VVSC website or on mobile through the GTL VisMobile app. Timing matters: you need to book at least one day in advance, and you can't schedule more than seven days out. That gives you a rolling one-to-seven-day booking window.
If you're new to the system, build in extra time. There's a 48-hour processing period between registration and when you can schedule your first visit.
- Plan to use the right setup (desktop vs. mobile): GTL VisBridge is for visitors using a desktop or laptop.
- Download GTL VisBridge: Log into your visitor account and follow the prompts to get the desktop application installed.
- Run the Internet Visit Tester early: At least 10 minutes before your visit, select “Internet Visit Tester” from the menu bar in your visitor account and follow the prompts.
- Fix issues before your start time: Use the tester results to confirm your audio and video are working before the visit begins.
Visiting from a phone or tablet? Use the GTL VisMobile app. The desktop-only VisBridge application isn't designed for mobile visits.
If you need to cancel, do it early. Ocean County Jail requires at least 24 hours' notice, so don't wait until the last minute if you know you can't make it.
Heads up: All non-attorney video visits are subject to recording and monitoring.
If you use ViaPath/Telmate services to communicate with an incarcerated person, the provider's privacy statement says your communication is recorded and stored. That may include your image and voice data. By using the services, you're expressly consenting to that collection and use as described in their privacy statement. Separately, the same privacy statement covers location collection on calls placed from an incarcerated individual. When you accept one of those calls, your phone location is obtained for 60 minutes after you accept. If you don't accept the call, your location is not collected.
