How to Do a Video Visit with Someone at Orange Correctional Center (Getting Out Visits)
Video visiting at Orange Correctional Center runs through the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction (NCDAC). Once you're approved to visit, you can see and talk with your loved one remotely.
Orange Correctional Center offers NCDAC video visiting, so family and friends can connect with incarcerated people by video instead of making the trip in person. If distance makes in-person visits tough, video visits are one of the best ways to stay connected.
Video visits run through the Getting Out Visits system. Your loved one joins from an electronic tablet or video kiosk at the facility. You join through the Getting Out Visits app or from a computer with a webcam, microphone, and a recent web browser. Depending on availability, visits can be on-demand or scheduled for a specific date and time.
Before you try to schedule a video visit, make sure you're on the person's approved visitor list. Only approved visitors can use video visiting, and facility staff need to approve your visitor application before any visit (including video) can happen.
Tip: Submit your visitor application as early as possible. You'll need to wait for facility approval before you can visit, including by video.
Once you're approved, use Getting Out Visits to connect. Most people use the Getting Out Visits app, but you can also join from a personal computer with internet, a webcam, a microphone, and a recent browser. On your loved one's end, they'll join from their tablet or a video kiosk in the facility.
- Get set up in Getting Out Visits: Download the app (or use a computer with a webcam and microphone), then sign in.
- Find your loved one: Use the app to locate the incarcerated person you want to visit.
- Choose your visit type: Start an on-demand visit if it is available, or schedule a visit for a future date and time.
- Join when prompted: At your scheduled time (or when the on-demand request connects), follow the prompts in Getting Out Visits to begin the video visit.
In Getting Out Visits, video visits can be on-demand or scheduled. If you'd rather visit in person instead, keep in mind that NCDAC in-person visits are by appointment only. You'll need to schedule by calling or emailing the prison where the person is housed.

- ✓ Open Getting Out Visits ahead of time (app or computer) and make sure your camera, microphone, and internet connection are working.
- ✓ If you scheduled a visit, call the prison the day before to confirm the facility’s visitation status.
If a scheduled visit doesn't connect or something seems off, start by checking the facility's visitation status. Still running into problems? Contact the prison directly for help.
Reminder: Call the prison the day before a scheduled visit to confirm the facility's visitation status.
