Professional Visitors: What Changed at Pamunkey Regional Jail (effective March 1, 2025)
If you visit Pamunkey Regional Jail in a professional capacity, the rules changed on March 1, 2025. Here's what's different, what hours apply, and what to bring so you don't get turned away at check-in.
As of March 1, 2025, Pamunkey Regional Jail updated its professional visitation schedule and process. Contact visits (no barrier) now run Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Non-contact visits (through glass) are available seven days a week, 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM. The bigger change? No more appointments for onsite professional visits. Everything is first-come, first-serve.
Hours
- ✓ Onsite contact (no barrier): Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
- ✓ Onsite non-contact (through glass): Seven days a week, 8:00 AM–10:00 PM
Note: Regular internal scheduled activities may delay some visits, and contact (no-barrier) visits are not conducted on published holidays.
Pamunkey Regional Jail no longer schedules appointments for onsite professional visits. Show up during the posted hours, and you'll be seen in the order you arrive. Depending on what's happening inside the facility, you may need to wait.
- ✓ Arrive early during the onsite window you need, since there are no appointments and visits are first-come, first-serve.
- ✓ Build in extra time: internal scheduled activities can delay visits, and contact (no-barrier) visits won’t happen on published holidays.
- ✓ If you can’t be accommodated onsite, use professional Remote Visitation instead of making a second trip.
ID Checklist
- ✓ Photographic identification
- ✓ Professional credentials (for example, a bar card or an ID card issued by your employer)
Can't make it in person? Professional Remote Visitation is available seven days a week, generally 8:00 AM to 11:00 PM. There are brief interruptions for meals and scheduled activities, but this option gives you more flexibility than the onsite windows.
Privacy: Calls and videos using the professional Remote Visitation service are not recorded or monitored.
- Plan for one-time setup - Remote Visitation requires an initial setup; allow 1–3 days for approval and account setup before your first use.
- Get help if you need it - For setup questions or assistance, contact the jail’s on-site ViaPath representative at 804-365-6400 ext. 3099.
Even during posted hours, visits can be delayed by internal activities. Contact visits aren't conducted on published holidays, so check the calendar before planning an in-person meeting.
Have a one-time emergency that doesn't fit the regular schedule? Call 804-537-6400 ext. 3013 (Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM) or ext. 3014 (all other times) to ask about a special appointment. These requests depend on multiple factors and aren't guaranteed.
