How to Get Approved to Visit Someone at Pasquotank Correctional Institution
Before you can visit someone at Pasquotank Correctional Institution, your visitor application needs to be approved. The steps and checklists below will help you submit everything with the right documents so nothing gets held up.
Every visitor at Pasquotank Correctional Institution needs an approved visitor application on file before they can visit. No exceptions. If you show up without approval, you'll be turned away, no matter how far you traveled.
There's another reason approval matters: each offender can have a maximum of 18 approved visitors total, adults and minors combined. If their list is already full, someone else has to be removed before you can be added.
Required Documents
- ✓ If you are age 16 or older, attach a copy of one approved picture ID to your visitor application.
- ✓ If the visitor is a minor under age 16, attach a copy of the child’s birth certificate to the visitor application.
Send the completed visitor application to the facility where the offender is currently housed. If your loved one is at Pasquotank Correctional Institution, return the application directly to Pasquotank.
- ✓ Pasquotank Correctional Institution: 527 Commerce Drive, Elizabeth City, NC 27906
- ✓ Phone: 252-331-4881
A completed application can still be disapproved. One common reason is having a prior criminal record.
- Confirm approval before you go - a visit cannot happen until the completed application is approved by facility staff.
- Make sure the application is sent to the right place - completed applications must be returned to the prison where the offender is currently housed.
- If you were denied, follow up through the facility - since approval is handled by the facility staff, the next step is to contact the prison where your loved one is housed and ask what options are available.
Clergy visits follow a separate process. Clergy visitors need to complete form DC-949P and receive approval before visiting an offender.
Note: Approved clergy visitors are not counted toward the offender’s 18 approved visitors.
This guide covers getting approved through the visitor application, not the details of the actual visit itself. For questions about how long approval takes, visiting days and times, or what to expect at check-in, contact Pasquotank directly before making travel plans.
