How to Visit Facility

Note: Even if your background check is approved, the Superintendent can still deny a visit.

Start by contacting the facility where the offender is located. That facility handles both the background check approval and visit scheduling, so reach out there before making any travel plans.

  1. Contact the facility where the offender is located. Tell staff you are trying to get approved for visitation.
  2. Request background check approval. Follow the facility’s instructions so your information can be reviewed.
  3. Schedule the visit with the facility. Once you are told you can be scheduled, set your visit time directly with the facility.
  • Mail completed juvenile visiting request forms to: WV Division of Corrections & Rehabilitation, Bureau of Juvenile Services, Attn: Visitors Request, 1409 Greenbrier Street, Charleston, WV 25311

You can reach the Bureau of Juvenile Services about visitor requests by phone (304-558-2036) or fax (304-558-6032).

How to Visit Facility

Heads up: The Superintendent has final say on visits. Even after you're approved, check with the facility about any circumstances that could block your visit.

Before you submit any information or show up to visit, make sure you're contacting the correct facility. Background check approval and visit scheduling both happen at the facility where the offender is currently housed. If you call or fax the Bureau of Juvenile Services (304-558-2036, 304-558-6032), confirm those are still the right channels for visitor requests. Ask who to contact at the specific facility for next steps.

  • Confirm the mailing address is still current before sending anything: WV Division of Corrections & Rehabilitation, Bureau of Juvenile Services, Attn: Visitors Request, 1409 Greenbrier Street, Charleston, WV 25311
  • Ask whether the facility requires a specific form version or any additional paperwork to be included with your request
