What You Can't Bring to Visitation at WSDJSC — and Where to Store Your Belongings
Forbidden Items
- ✓ Hats
- ✓ Coats
- ✓ Hoodies
- ✓ Jackets
- ✓ Cell phones
- ✓ Personal belongings
At WSDJSC, you can’t pass items back and forth during a visit. Visitors aren’t allowed to give any item directly to a detainee, and detainees aren’t allowed to give anything to a visitor or accept anything directly from a visitor.
Your visit can be denied if JSC staff decide your clothing is inappropriate. If you’re unsure about an outfit, keep it simple and conservative so you don’t get turned away at check-in.
Warning: No one under the influence of any substance, including alcohol or drugs, will be allowed to visit.
If you arrive with items that aren’t allowed in the visitation area, lockers are available so you can store personal belongings before your visit.
Plan to arrive 15 minutes before the posted visitation time. That buffer gives you time for administrative processing and to secure anything you can’t bring into the visitation area.
Prep Checklist
- ✓ Bring a picture (photo) ID if you’re an adult visitor.
- ✓ Leave hats, coats, hoodies, jackets, cell phones, and other personal belongings out of the visitation area (use the lockers if needed).
- ✓ Wear clothing that won’t be considered inappropriate by JSC staff.
- ✓ Do not show up under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- ✓ Arrive 15 minutes early to complete administrative processing.
Reminder: Don’t bring items expecting to hand them to your loved one - direct item exchanges between visitors and detainees aren’t allowed.
