Virtual Visits with Perry Inmates: Setup, Device Compatibility, Rules, and the 2025 Rate Update

You must be on the inmate's approved visitation list to request a virtual visit at Perry Correctional Facility. Not approved yet? You won't be able to schedule anything until you're added.

  1. Create your virtual visitation account - Set up an account at scdoc.gtlvisitme.com/app.
  2. Make sure every visitor has their own login - Each person who wants to visit must create an individual account, even if you plan to sit together during the same virtual visit.

Name match matters: The name on your virtual visitation account must exactly match the name on the inmate’s approved visitation list. Nicknames can cause problems.

Plan ahead. Virtual visits must be scheduled at least three days in advance, and you can't book more than seven days out. That gives you a one-week window to work with.

  • Try to make changes at least two days ahead of the visit.
  • Cancel at least one day in advance.
  • Be in place in front of your device 15 minutes before the start time.

You can use a computer, tablet, or Android phone for Perry virtual visits. iPhones aren't compatible right now. If you normally rely on an iPhone, borrow or switch to a supported device before your scheduled time.

Virtual visits are recorded and reviewed for appropriateness. Staff can end the visit immediately if anything inappropriate happens. Set expectations with everyone in the room before the call starts.

  • Sexual behavior or anything sexual in nature
  • Any display of nudity
  • Inappropriate attire by the visitor
  • Any activity or display of gang paraphernalia
  • Any unauthorized person (adult or minor) suddenly appearing during the visit
  • Use or display of drugs/alcohol or weapons

Be ready to verify who's on the call. The visitation coordinator will ask approved visitors age 10 and older to show a photo ID. Children younger than 10 need a certified long-form birth certificate instead.

One SCDC virtual visitation FAQ lists the cost at a flat $10 for a 50-minute visit. Under that pricing, you pay $10 once the visit begins - even if either side ends early.

A separate SCDC memo announces a rate change: 16 cents per minute effective Feb. 1, 2025. According to the memo, this drops a 50-minute visit from $10 to $8. Visits will still be scheduled in 50-minute slots but billed by actual length.

Rate update to watch: The FAQ and the Feb. 1, 2025 memo don’t match - one says $10 flat for 50 minutes, while the memo says 16¢/minute starting Feb. 1, 2025. If you’re budgeting for visits around that date, expect the per-minute rate to be the change indicator.

Most virtual visit problems trace back to account setup - especially name mismatches between your account and the approved visitation list. If you're stuck, confirm you created your account through the official portal and that each visitor has their own separate account.
