Bringing kids to visit someone at PICC: age rules, documents, and scheduling tips

Children can visit at PICC as long as they're at least six months old and accompanied by a parent or guardian. Planning a first visit with a baby or toddler? Double-check your child's age before you schedule - that six-month minimum is a hard line.

You'll need to prove you have the right to bring the child. The accompanying adult must show proof of custody or the child's birth certificate. This is the key document check for kid visits - without it, you won't get in.

PICC doesn't allow children to visit during school hours, so plan for evenings or weekends. There's also a group size limit: only one adult and one child can visit the same person at one time. Have multiple kids or want another adult along for support? You'll need to work around that limit, or the visit gets denied at check-in.

Planning Tips

  • Bring proof of custody or the child’s birth certificate for the accompanying adult
  • Schedule the visit outside school hours (children can’t visit during school hours)
  • Plan to arrive at least 10 minutes before the scheduled visit time

Reminder: Arrive at PICC at least ten minutes before your scheduled visit time. With kids, build in extra buffer - rushing at the last minute makes everything harder.
