What to Bring (and What to Leave Behind) for a Visit to Philadelphia Industrial Correctional Center (PICC)
PICC enforces a dress code, and if you do not comply, your visit will be canceled. When you arrive, you must show government identification, and an officer will ask for the name and ID number of the person you are visiting.
- ✓ Wear closed-toe, non-slip-on shoes (no flip-flops, sandals, or Crocs)
- ✓ Leave jewelry at home, including face piercings, smart watches, and rings
- ✓ Bring quarters for a locker in the waiting room (there is no change machine)
Plan your outfit before you leave. PICC has a strict dress code, and staff will cancel your visit if your clothing doesn't meet the rules.
- ✓ Leggings or stretch pants are allowed only if your top covers your hips when you raise your arms above your head
- ✓ Do not wear anything that closely resembles an incarcerated person’s uniform, including orange jumpsuits or blue scrub tops
Note: If your clothing does not meet the dress code, your visit can be canceled. Also plan to arrive at least 10 minutes before your scheduled visit time.
Shoes Jewelry Accessories
- ✓ No open-toed shoes or slip-on shoes, including flip-flops, sandals, and Crocs
- ✓ No jewelry of any kind, including face piercings, smart watches, rings
Remember: Jewelry and smart devices aren't allowed during visits. Leave them at home to avoid any hassle.
Practical Items
- ✓ Government-issued ID for check-in
- ✓ The incarcerated person’s name and ID number (you will be asked for both)
- ✓ Quarters for the lockers in the visiting area (no change machine in the waiting room)
Planning to send mail too? Keep the facility address and the incarcerated person's ID number handy. You'll need both on the envelope for it to be processed correctly.
