How to Submit Questions About Pittsylvania County Jail to PittCo Mailbag

PittCo Mailbag is Pittsylvania County's online portal for residents to ask questions about how county government works - including the jail. The Public Relations team collects submissions and publishes a Mailbag article roughly once a month, featuring resident questions alongside official answers.

• ✓ Phone Number
• ✓ Email Address
• ✓ Your Question (be as specific as you can so they understand what information you’re looking for)

Want your question featured in a public Mailbag article? Focus on "why" and "how" questions about county operations. These tend to get fuller explanations that work well in a column format. Straightforward factual questions can still be submitted, but the county may answer those directly rather than publishing them.

Before you hit submit, know this: sending a question through PittCo Mailbag doesn't guarantee an answer. The county may not respond publicly in a Mailbag article, and they may not reply to you directly either.

1. Name the exact topic - Start your question by saying it’s about Pittsylvania County Jail and what you’re trying to understand.
2. Add the details that matter - Include any relevant dates, locations, or other identifiers that help them understand your situation, and keep the question specific.
3. Complete every required field - Use your First Name, Last Name, Phone Number, Email Address, and type your question in the “Your Question” box.
4. Ask it as a “why” or “how” when you can - Those questions are more likely to fit the Mailbag’s public Q&A format about how county government works.
