How to Send Money to Someone at Placer Jail (Auburn & South Placer)
Getting money onto someone's commissary account at Placer County's jails is straightforward once you know your options. Here are the methods Placer accepts and the details you need to avoid delays.
Sending money by mail or using the jail lobby drop-box? Placer only accepts money orders or cashier's checks - personal checks won't go through. These deposits go straight to commissary.
Prefer to handle everything remotely? You can place deposits and commissary orders through the My Care Pack website. This is often the easiest route if you can't get to the lobby or don't want to deal with mailing anything.
You can also deposit money by phone through Smart Deposit/Access Corrections. The phone number is 866-394-0490.
For in-person deposits, Smart Deposit kiosks in the jail lobbies accept cash, credit cards, and permanent bank ATM/debit cards. If you're already heading to the jail, the kiosk is a quick way to fund commissary without mailing anything.
For mailed or lobby drop-box deposits, use only a money order or cashier's check (up to $150 each). Make it payable to the inmate and include their jail ID number so staff can match the funds to the right account.
Placer requires your information on the money order or cashier's check too. Fill in your name and mailing address before sending or dropping it off.
Timing matters. Deposits must be made by midnight on Monday to be included in that week's delivery.
My Care Pack is Placer's online option for deposits and commissary orders. It works well when you need to handle everything from home, you're out of town, or you'd rather skip mailing a money order.
Prefer the phone? Smart Deposit/Access Corrections takes deposits at 866-394-0490. Have the inmate's details ready so the money gets applied to the right account.
Note: Need an in-person option? The Smart Deposit lobby kiosks take cash, credit, and permanent bank ATM/debit cards. Can't get to the jail? My Care Pack (online) or Smart Deposit by phone (866-394-0490) lets you handle it remotely.
