What Attorneys Need to Know Before Visiting a Client at Placer Jail (Auburn & South Placer)

At Placer's jails,

Bring proper ID. You'll need to present identification before entering for a professional visit - your bar card or office credentials alone won't cut it at check-in.

Watch the clock. You must check in at least 15 minutes before the visiting session ends. Cut it too close and you'll miss the window entirely.

Laptops and tablets are allowed, but cellular service and open Wi‑Fi are strictly prohibited during visits. Plan on working offline and bring printed materials when possible.

Auburn Jail offers professional visiting seven days a week across four windows: 7:30 am–10:30 am, Noon–3:30 pm, 5:30 pm–6:30 pm, and 7:30 pm–9:30 pm. The mid-day and evening blocks are especially useful when you're working around a tight court schedule.

South Placer Jail also has professional visiting seven days a week, with three windows: 7:30 am–3:30 pm, 4:30 pm–6:30 pm, and 7:30 pm–9:30 pm. Check the exceptions before heading over - certain time blocks restrict specific visit types.

• ✓ South Placer: Contact and non-contact visits are not permitted from 6:30 pm–7:30 pm
• ✓ South Placer: Contact visits are not permitted from 10:30 am–Noon

At Auburn, contact visits aren't automatic. They're approved case-by-case and require your client's agreement. If contact isn't approved - or your client declines - you'll get a non-contact visit instead.
