Video Visits (GTL): How to Register, Schedule, Pay, and What to Wear

Video visitation through GTL is scheduled online. Before picking a day or time, confirm that this facility offers video visits and whether yours will be at-home (from your own device) or on-site (at a facility kiosk). Either way, you'll register and schedule through the GTL visitation site at www.gtlvisitme.com.

  1. Go to www.gtlvisitme.com and create your account - register yourself, and make sure you also register any other visitors who will participate.
  2. Select the facility - choose the facility where your loved one is located.
  3. Search for the incarcerated individual and add them - once you find the right person, add them to your account.
  4. Click “Schedule” - this starts the scheduling process.
  5. Choose a visit time and review the price - the cost for the visit is shown during scheduling.

To finalize your appointment, enter your credit or debit card information during the scheduling process. GTL sends a confirmation email and receipt afterward - save these so you can double-check the time later if needed.

  • Debit cards
  • Charge cards
  • Visa/Mastercard gift cards

For at-home video visits, log in to the scheduling site 15 minutes before your start time. Use that window to test your connection and follow the prompts to launch the visit - you don't want to be troubleshooting once the clock starts.

For on-site video visits, plan to arrive at the facility at least 15 minutes early for check-in. Bring a valid photo ID - staff will require it before you’re allowed to use the video visitation kiosks.

  • Wear a shirt or blouse.
  • Wear pants, shorts, or a dress.
  • Wear appropriate undergarments.
  • Avoid worn-out, torn (holes), transparent, or frayed clothing if it could show undergarments.
  • Don’t wear hats or other head coverings unless it’s required by your religious beliefs.

Note: Torn or see-through clothing that shows undergarments is a common reason visits get cut short. Head coverings aren't allowed unless required for religious reasons.
