How to Set Up Your TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler Account (and Why You Can't Change Your Email Later)

TDCJ staff can't create an account for you - you have to do it yourself. That might feel like one more thing on your plate, but it also means your login stays in your control. Staff may help update certain details after your account exists, but the initial setup is yours to complete.

Head to the official TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler login page: https://visitation.tdcj.texas.gov/Visitation/startLoginAction.action. If this is your first time, select the option to create an account.

You'll enter a valid email address during registration. The system sends you an email with a 7-digit validation code and a link to continue setup. Keep that email handy - you'll need the code to move forward.

Here's what catches people off guard: once an account is created for an email address, it can't be deleted. The email can't be changed either. Whatever address you pick is locked in. Choose an email you'll control long-term. If you register with an old work email, a shared family account, or an inbox you might lose access to, you'll be stuck - there's no way to switch to a new address later.

Once you've set your email and password, you'll reach the Background Questionnaire. Every question requires an answer - skip one, and the system won't let you proceed. Plan to complete it in one sitting.

Watch the phone number format. Enter it as XXX XXX XXXX with spaces - no dashes. Type 555-123-4567 and the system may flag your profile as incomplete. Use 555 123 4567 instead.

2. Start a new registration - Click the option to create an account.
3. Submit your email and validate it - Enter a valid email, then use the link and 7-digit validation code from the email you receive.
4. Finish the required questions - Complete the Background Questionnaire; you can’t move on until every question is answered.
5. Fix your profile details before submitting - Double-check your phone number is typed as XXX XXX XXXX with spaces.
6. Submit your account setup - Once everything is complete, you should be able to finish registration and move on to scheduling.
