How to Set Up Your TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler Account (Lucile Plane State Jail)
Before you can request a visit at Lucile Plane State Jail, you need to set up your TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler account. Here's the exact workflow—from registration to adding an inmate to your profile.
Head to the TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler at https://visitation.tdcj.texas.gov/Visitation/startLoginAction.action. If you already have an account, log in. If not, select the option to create one. You'll need to do this yourself - no one else can set up your account for you.
Note: You must create your own visitor account - TDCJ staff can’t create it for you. Once your account exists, they can help with updating certain information (like names and addresses).
- Click “Create an Account” - this starts the registration process.
- Enter a valid email address - use an email you can access right now.
- Click “Submit” - the system will send you an email.
- Find the registration email - it includes a 7-digit validation code and a link you’ll use to finish setting up your account.

Open the registration link from the email, which brings you back into the scheduler to finish registration. You’ll re-enter your email address, enter the 7-digit key from the email, and then create a password that meets all the listed requirements. After you re-type the password to confirm it, click Submit to complete this part of the setup.
After you submit a valid password, the system moves you to the Background Questionnaire. Every question on that questionnaire has to be answered before you can move forward - if you leave anything blank, you’ll get stuck here. When it’s successfully submitted, you should see the message “Update Complete.” If your profile still needs something, the scheduler uses red text to flag incomplete fields so you can go back and fix what’s missing.
Warning: Enter your phone number exactly as XXX XXX XXXX, using spaces and no dashes. The wrong format can trigger an error and keep your profile from saving correctly.
- Click “Add Inmate” - this opens the inmate search window.
- Search using the inmate’s number - choose either TDCJ number or SID number.
- Enter the full 8 digits - the system requires an 8-digit TDCJ or SID number.
- Select your relationship - pick the option that matches how you’re connected.
- Submit the request for approval - your request is sent for review/approval.
Two things to keep in mind once your account is created: the account is permanently tied to the email address you used (it can’t be deleted, and the email can’t be changed), and TDCJ staff can only help with updates after your account already exists. If you’re getting started for the first time, that means the registration steps have to be completed by you.
