What Happened to In-Person Visits at Plaquemines Parish Detention and How to Apply for Visitation

The Corrections Division isn't allowing outside visitors into the Correctional Center right now. Don't plan a trip expecting to get in - wait until the facility changes that status.

While outside visitation is paused, you can still prepare. Get the Inmate Visitation Application, fill it out, and mail it back to the Correctional Center at the address on the form. Anyone who wants to visit must complete this application.

How Fill Application

• ✓ Complete the Inmate Visitation Application (this is required for anyone requesting to visit)
• ✓ Mail the completed application back to the Correctional Center at the address shown on the form
• ✓ If you’re sending anything by mail related to the inmate, include the inmate’s name, PPSO number, and dorm so it can be matched correctly

Before mailing, double-check that everything is filled in and legible. The most common mistake? Leaving off key inmate identifiers - the inmate's name, PPSO number, and dorm. That's how the facility routes items to the right person, so missing info means delays.

1. Call the main switchboard - Use 504-934-7600 to ask about current visitation status and any instructions you need to follow.
2. Try the alternate number if you can’t get through - If there’s no answer, call 504-682-4668 for assistance.
3. Call during administrative hours when possible - Administrative office hours are Monday–Friday, 8:30am–5:00pm.
