Before You Post a Bond for Someone Detained by ICE: Using CeBonds, Bond Hours, and the I-352 Checklist
Posting an ICE bond? Two things matter immediately: confirming the bond information is correct and timing your payment within ICE's bond window. Here's what you need to know about CeBonds, the 9 a.m.–3 p.m. posting hours, and why you should read Form I-352 before paying a dime.
CeBonds (Cash Electronic Bonds) is ICE's online bond system. One of its most useful features: you can verify bond information for a detained person before you pay anything. That verification step ensures you're working with the right details.
If the detained person is eligible, CeBonds lets you post the bond online. This can save time compared to handling everything in person - but you'll still need to work within ICE's bond-posting hours (more on that below).
CeBonds can also send you electronic notifications about the bond. If you're juggling work, childcare, and deadlines, these alerts help you stay current without checking back constantly.
ICE accepts bond payments from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. - in the time zone where the detainee is held. That detail matters. If you're in a different state, your local clock might not match the facility's window.
Read the Bond Agreement (Form I-352) carefully before posting. ICE is clear on this: Form I-352 is the only document that spells out the terms and conditions of your agreement. Treat it as binding before you decide to become the obligor.
Note: ICE’s Bond Fact Sheet is background information, but it does not create any right or benefit enforceable against ICE or any federal agency.
- Verify the bond information in CeBonds - confirm the bond details for the detained individual before you try to post.
- Post the bond through CeBonds (if the person is eligible) - CeBonds supports online bond posting for eligible detained individuals.
- Set up electronic notifications - opt in so you can receive electronic updates related to the bond.
Missed the 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. window? Remember: ICE uses the time zone where the person is detained, not where you are. Double-check the facility's time zone and try again during the next posting period.
