How to Schedule Your Visit to Pocahontas Correctional Center (Online Scheduler, 14‑day Window, One Visit Per Weekend)

Before you can schedule anything, you need approval. VADOC requires every visitor - adults and minors alike - to submit a visitor application and Background Investigation Authorization through the DOC public website. The Central Visitation Unit reviews these submissions, and staff won't let you visit until your approval comes through.

Once approved, you'll schedule visits through the VADOC Visitation Scheduler. First-time users need to register using the

• ✓ The inmate’s first and/or last name or inmate ID number
• ✓ A form of picture ID (driver’s license, passport, etc.)
• ✓ Your Social Security Number

When you're ready to book, remember the timing window: visits can be scheduled up to 14 days in advance.

There’s also a weekly limit. Visitors are permitted a maximum of one visit per weekend, so choose the day and time that works best before you lock it in.

On the day of your visit, give yourself extra time. Arrive at the facility one hour before your scheduled slot to get through security without rushing. That buffer matters - especially for first-time visitors who aren't sure how long check-in takes.

If you can't make your scheduled time or think you'll be late, don't wait until you're on the road. Since visits are scheduled through the VADOC Visitation Scheduler, reach out to the facility as early as possible to cancel or ask about missed time slots.

Rescheduling? The same constraints apply: you can only book up to 14 days ahead, and you're limited to one visit per weekend. If the next opening doesn't work, you may need to look at a different weekend within that window.
