Before Your First Visit to Pocatello Women's Correctional Center: What You Can and Cannot Bring
Your first visit to Pocatello Women's Correctional Center (PWCC) goes much smoother when you handle the paperwork ahead of time and keep your belongings simple. This guide will help you avoid bringing something that gets you turned away at the door.
Before you make the trip, take care of two things: read the facility's Visiting Rules and complete the visiting application. The application includes a background check, and approval takes time. Get it done well before your visit - otherwise you might be turned away at the door.
Tip: Don’t wait until the day of your visit - PWCC requires you to read the Visiting Rules and complete the visiting application process before you arrive.
Want to grab snacks or drinks during your visit? Plan your money situation in advance. PWCC doesn't allow paper money in the visiting rooms, so the cash in your wallet won't do you any good once you're inside.
- ✓ Coins in clear plastic bags (for vending machine purchases)
- ✓ A debit card (if applicable for vending machine purchases)
- ✓ A credit card (if applicable for vending machine purchases)
Leave the snacks at home. PWCC doesn't allow outside food of any kind in the visiting area - that includes gum and candy. Pictures are off-limits too: no printed photos, and no images on keychain-sized electronic viewers.
- ✓ Oils of any kind (including religious oils)
- ✓ Can openers
- ✓ Sunglasses
- ✓ Documents of any kind
Note: The visiting-area restrictions cover everyday items - food (even gum), photos (including on electronic viewers), documents, and sunglasses. Leave them in your car or at home.
Even when you've done everything right, plans can shift. Visiting schedules change during emergencies, so check the current schedule before you head out.
