How to Set Up Your First Video Visit at Polk County Jail

Setting up your first video visit comes down to getting approved on Securus, then scheduling within Polk County Jail's rules. Here's how remote ("Anywhere") visits work, step by step.

An "Anywhere" visit at Polk County Jail is a remote video visit through the Securus system. You can see and talk with the person in custody from home, no trip to the facility required. Inmates are allowed two Anywhere visits per week, each lasting 20 minutes.

Check the limit in your Securus account. Polk County Jail information also states that most inmates are allowed video visits every day (including some holidays), but the Anywhere visit rule is listed as two 20-minute visits per week. If you see different options when scheduling, follow what Securus allows for your loved one.

Create Securus Account

  • Create your Securus account using the same name that appears on your photo ID
  • Upload a copy of your photo ID
  • Upload a photo of yourself (a selfie)
  • Plan for approval time, it may take up to 48 hours before you can schedule

Once your Securus account is approved, you can schedule an Anywhere visit through the Securus website or mobile app. Polk County Jail requires appointments at least 24 hours in advance, so same-day visits usually aren't an option. On the flip side, you can book up to 14 days ahead. That's helpful if you're trying to lock in a weekend slot or work around childcare and job schedules.

Each Anywhere video visit costs $10.00 for a 20-minute session (plus tax).

Securus handles all billing for video visits. If you have a charge question or need help with a Securus-related issue, you can reach them at 877-578-3658 or 972-734-1111.

Need to change or cancel a visit? Build in time. Polk County Jail requires 24 hours' notice, and any change or cancellation has to be completed by 6:00 p.m. the day before the scheduled visit. If you miss that window, the original appointment can still count against the inmate's weekly allotment because the time slot was held.

  1. Call as soon as you know you cannot make it. If you are unable to make the scheduled appointment, call 863-635-6920 as soon as possible.
  2. Use the jail visitation lines if you need help changing an existing visit. Central County Jail visitation: 863-534-6153 or 863-534-6173. South County Jail visitation: 863-635-2642 or 863-635-2643.

Treat a video visit like an in-person visit. Keep things appropriate, because the call can be ended if rules are broken. Polk County Jail requires visitors to wear appropriate clothing, and nudity of any kind is not allowed. If nudity is displayed during a video visit, the visitor will be banned for one month on the first offense, two months on the second, and potentially indefinitely after a third. Since Anywhere visits are limited to two 20-minute sessions per week, it's worth protecting that time by staying within the conduct rules.
