Setting Up Your TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler Account: A First-Timer's Guide
Setting up your TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler account is straightforward—but a couple details can trip you up, especially your email address and the inmate's ID number. Follow these steps to get registered correctly the first time.
Before you start, confirm you're eligible. The TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler is only available to residents of the United States, Canada, and Mexico. And one thing to know upfront: you'll need to create your own account. TDCJ staff can't do it for you.
Reminder: You have to create your own TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler account - TDCJ staff can’t set it up for you.
- Enter a valid email address - this is the email the scheduler will use for your account.
- Submit the email - after you submit it, TDCJ will email you a 7-digit validation code and a link.
- Use the code and link to finish registration - follow the emailed link and enter the validation code to complete your account setup.
Warning: Once an account is created for an email address, it can’t be deleted, and the email address on the account can’t be changed.
- ✓ Use an email address you can reliably access right now (you’ll need it for the validation code and link).
- ✓ After you submit your email, look for the message with the 7-digit validation code and registration link.
- ✓ Double-check your email address before submitting - once the account exists, the email can’t be changed and the account can’t be deleted.
Once your account is created, you'll complete a background questionnaire and visitor profile. Answer the background questions honestly and fill out every required field (marked with an asterisk *). Remember - staff can't create or complete your profile for you.
- ✓ Answer every background question before moving on.
- ✓ Look for fields marked with an asterisk (*) and complete them before you try to save.
- ✓ If something won’t submit, re-check the required fields first - missing one is a common reason profiles don’t go through.
When adding an inmate to your profile, the TDCJ or SID number must be exactly 8 digits. Shorter, longer, or missing a digit? The system won't find a match.
Not sure you have the right number? Double-check before trying again. Even a small typo will keep you from finding the right person.
Email pitfall: Don’t rush the email step. You must use the emailed link and 7-digit validation code to complete registration - and the email you sign up with can’t be changed later.
Inmate number pitfall: The scheduler requires an 8-digit TDCJ or SID number. If you enter anything other than 8 digits, it won’t work.
Expecting to schedule a visit but don't see the Schedule Visit button? Read the message on the screen carefully. If the visitor–inmate relationship has been confirmed but the inmate's visitation privileges have been removed, you'll see "Not Approved for Visits" where the button would normally appear.
