Communication
- The public cannot call into Prince George Detention Center; inmates may only place outgoing collect or debit calls.
- Inmates are allowed to make telephone calls to family or bondsmen during processing into the facility.
- Telephone accounts are handled through Inmate Telephone Incorporated (call 1-888-949-3303); Offender Connect is used for billing and adding money online.
Mail & Letters
- Send physical mail to P.O. Box 247, Phoenix, MD 21131; previous mailing addresses are invalid after Nov 1, 2025.
- Every piece of mail must include both the sender’s and recipient’s first and last legal names; nicknames are rejected.
- Personal letters and greeting cards must be in plain white envelopes and on plain white or standard white lined paper.
Sending Money
- At intake money is inventoried and deposited into an institutional account; valuables are labeled and stored in locked storage.
- Friends and family may deposit up to $150 per week into an inmate commissary account via the two Reception kiosks or online at www.connectnetwork.com; the facility does not accept checks or money orders for these deposits.
- A fee is charged for each deposit transaction; example charges listed include a $2.50 cash-deposit fee and varying credit-card fees (amounts listed as of January 2009).

Box 247, Phoenix, MD 21131—older mailing addresses won't work anymore. Every piece of mail needs both the sender's and recipient's first and last legal names. Nicknames or non-legal names? Rejected. Personal letters and greeting cards must be in plain white envelopes, written on plain white or standard white lined paper. Photos must be 4x6 or smaller—no more than five per envelope. Hard cover books aren't allowed. Single publications can't exceed 8.5" x 11" or three inches thick. Newspapers and magazines are only accepted if prepaid and mailed directly from the publisher. Got something rejected? You can appeal in writing within 20 days.
