Attorneys can visit clients at Prince George Detention Center at any time - unless the facility is in a scheduled lockdown or responding to an emergency. That means visits outside typical public hours are possible, but access will pause if the jail goes into lockdown.

Bring your bar card. Staff use it to confirm you're there for a legal visit, and having it ready speeds up check-in.

Forgot your bar card? A valid driver's license works as a backup. The Reception Officer will verify your credentials against the attorney book kept at the Reception Center before letting you proceed.

After-hours visits: Planning to come at irregular hours? Call the On-duty Shift Commander at 301-952-7028 beforehand. Attorney visits are allowed outside lockdowns and emergencies, but this call is required for irregular-hour entry.

Attorney visits happen in contact or non-contact booths located in the housing units. Which setup you get affects how you pass documents, so come prepared for either.

Processing Area visits are different. If your client is there, expect a non-contact booth - even if you've used contact booths elsewhere in the jail.

  1. Tell the Reception Officer you’re seeing multiple clients - let them know up front that you plan to visit more than one person during the same trip.
  2. Provide the client names for the pending visits - the Reception Officer will use the names you give to coordinate the movement.
  3. Wait while Reception notifies the housing units - the Reception Officer will call the involved housing unit officers, give them the names of the clients, and make them aware of the pending visit(s).

Paralegals can visit, but the facility needs to verify two things: that the paralegal works for an attorney, and that the attorney requested the visit for a specific inmate. If either piece can't be confirmed, expect delays or a denied visit until verification clears.
