Before Your First Visit to Racine Youthful Offender Corr. Facility (RYOCF): Forms, IDs, and What You Can't Bring

Before you can visit RYOCF, you need to be on the Person in Our Care (PIOC)'s approved visiting list. That process starts with the DOC-21AA Visitor Questionnaire - one form for each person who wants to visit, including kids. The PIOC gets the form and mails it to you. Fill it out, then send it back to the institution for processing. Don't plan your trip until you've been officially added to the approved list. Approval has to happen first.

RYOCF uses ICSolutions (ICS) for visits, and your account setup matters even for in-person visits. You'll need to create an ICS account (or update your existing one) and enter the unique Party ID linked to the approved visiting list. This Party ID connects your account to the institution's records - enter it exactly as provided. Small typos can cause frustrating delays when you try to schedule or check in.

  • Valid state driver’s license
  • Valid passport or visa
  • Valid Department of Transportation (DMV) photo ID
  • Valid military identification card

Prohibited Items

  • Weapons
  • Cell phones, cameras, pagers, recording equipment, and other electronic devices
  • Illegal drugs
  • Alcohol
  • Tobacco and related products
  • Matches and lighters
  • Purses
  • Strollers
  • Money or other items intended to be given to a PIOC

Plan to walk in with as little as possible. The items on this list are treated as prohibited property at DAI facilities, and bringing them can end your visit before it starts. Leave anything prohibited at home or locked in your car - especially phones and electronics. Don't bring cash or anything you're hoping to hand to the PIOC.

Allowed Child Items

  • Pack as lightly as you can for children so check-in is faster and simpler
  • Do not bring a stroller (strollers are prohibited)
  • If you’re unsure whether a child-related item will be allowed, confirm before you go so you’re not stuck having to leave and miss your visiting time

You'll go through a metal detector during entrance screening. If you don't clear it, you get up to three attempts - and potentially two more with a supervisor present. Show up "metal-free" to avoid the hassle: skip heavy jewelry, belts with big buckles, and clothing loaded with metal hardware. If you need an alternate screening method as an accommodation, ask about the request process before your visit.

  1. Leave facility property if you’re denied entry - Don’t argue at the entrance; leaving right away protects your chance to reschedule.
  2. Figure out what caused the denial - Common fixable issues are approval status (DOC-21AA/visiting list) or an ICSolutions account that’s missing the Party ID.
  3. Reschedule after you correct the issue - Once your approval/account details are straightened out, set a new visit time so you’re not turned away again.
