Before Your First Visit to RYOCF: ID Requirements and Items That Will Get You Turned Away
First visits are stressful enough—don't add getting turned away at the door. This checklist covers what ID you need and what to leave behind so you actually make it into the visiting room at RYOCF.
Bring your ID every single time. At Racine Youthful Offender Correctional Facility (RYOCF), you'll need to show it at the start of video visits and again when entering for in-person visits. Forget it? Your visit could be delayed - or canceled before it begins.
Heads-up: During a video visit, staff can ask you to show your ID at any time - keep it nearby the whole visit.
Prohibited Items Overview
- ✓ Weapons
- ✓ Illegal drugs
- ✓ Alcohol
- ✓ Cell phones
- ✓ Cameras
- ✓ Pagers
- ✓ Recording equipment
- ✓ All other electronic devices
- ✓ Tobacco and related products
- ✓ Matches
- ✓ Lighters
- ✓ Purses
- ✓ Strollers
- ✓ Money or other items intended to be given to a person in our care (PIOC)
Leave paperwork at home unless you've gotten approval in advance. Letters, photos, and legal documents aren't allowed in the visiting room at RYOCF. The only exception: prior written approval from a Security Supervisor. Without that, keep those items out of the facility entirely.
Tax-time exception: With prior written approval from a Security Supervisor, tax documents that need a PIOC signature may be allowed during tax time.
Screening is strict - especially for electronics. Cell phones, cameras, and all electronic devices are prohibited in the visiting room. Leave them in your car before you even walk in. Anything that sets off screening or appears on the prohibited-items list can get you denied entry, and you'll lose your visit.
