What to Bring (And What to Leave Home) for Visiting Day at RYOCF

Visiting day goes smoother when you show up with the right ID, the right amount of cash, and nothing that'll get you turned away at the door. Use the checklists below to pack fast and skip the surprises.

What to Bring (And What to Leave Home) for Visiting Day at RYOCF

Aim to arrive about 20 minutes before visiting hours start - not earlier. Show up too soon and you'll be waiting outside longer than you'd like.

Security staff will stamp your hand when you enter. They'll check it again at secure areas and on your way out, so don't wash it off or cover it up.

  • If you are 16 or older, bring photo ID (you won’t be admitted without it)
  • Valid state driver’s license
  • Valid passport or visa
  • Valid Department of Transportation (DMV) photo I.D.
  • Valid military identification card

Prohibited Items

  • Weapons
  • Cell phones
  • Cameras
  • Pagers
  • Recording equipment
  • Any other electronic devices
  • Illegal drugs
  • Alcohol
  • Tobacco and related products
  • Matches and lighters
  • Purses
  • Strollers
  • Money or other items intended to be given to a person in our care (PIOC)

Don’t wear a watch: Watches are prohibited, including smart watches or any watch-like electronic recording device.

You can bring cash into the visiting area, but there's a $25.00 limit per visitor. Bring only what you'll actually use - no one wants to deal with extra cash at the entrance.

If you need coins for vending machines, there’s a change machine available in the RYOCF lobby.

  • Money (up to $25.00 per visitor)
  • One comb, pick, or brush per visitor
  • Up to two (2) baby blankets per child
  • Up to four (4) diapers per child
  • Leave diaper bags at home (they are not allowed)

Dress Code Highlights

  • No transparent/translucent (see-through) clothing
  • No camouflage clothing
  • No shorts that do not reach fingertip length when you stand upright with your arms straight down
  • No skirts or dresses that do not reach fingertip length plus three inches when you stand upright with your arms straight down
  • No strapless, tube, or halter tops/dresses
  • No tops or dresses that expose the midriff or back
  • Camisoles and tank tops must be worn under other clothing
  • No Spandex, Lycra, or other stretch fabrics as outerwear (leggings/tights of this material may be worn under appropriate-length attire)
  • No exposed undergarments (including visible bra straps; pants must be pulled up)
