Contact Visit Rules at Raymond Laborde: What Physical Contact Is Allowed and What Will End Your Visit
Contact visits have strict limits on physical contact. Know what's allowed—and what crosses the line—so you can focus on your visit instead of worrying about getting it cut short.
Raymond Laborde allows limited physical contact at the start and end of a contact visit. You can share a hug and brief kiss when the visit begins, and again when it ends. That's it for greeting and goodbye - it's meant for a quick show of affection, not extended touching.
Once the visit starts, the rules tighten. Holding hands is the only physical contact allowed during the visit itself. If you're used to longer hugs or sitting close, keep it simple: save the hug and brief kiss for hello and goodbye, and stick to hand-holding in between.
The facility draws the line at "excessive displays of affection" or any sexual misconduct. In plain terms: anything beyond the limited contact allowed - especially anything that looks sexual or overly intimate - can get your visit stopped. Keep physical affection within the rules: brief greeting and goodbye contact, hand-holding only during the visit.
Even if you followed every rule, visits can be ended by the warden or designated staff if they believe it's necessary for safety and security. Prohibited behavior - like excessive affection or sexual misconduct - is a clear trigger for termination. Be careful about physical contact from start to finish.
There's a separate, strict restriction on visits involving minors. If the incarcerated person has a current or prior conviction for a sex crime involving a minor, they cannot visit with any minor child - including their own biological or step-child. The same rule applies if the conviction involved a minor who wasn't a family member. A documented history of sex abuse with a minor family member also makes someone ineligible to visit with any minor child.
If this restriction applies, exceptions aren't automatic - and they aren't decided at the front desk. Anyone affected has been informed that only the warden can approve a possible exception.
Note: A sex-offense history involving a minor can block visits with any minor child - including biological or step-children. Any exception requires warden approval.
