How to Send Money to an Inmate at Rhode Island DOC: Online, Phone, Mail, and In-Person Options

Need to add money to someone's account at Rhode Island DOC (RIDOC)? You can do it online, by phone, by mail, or in person. The best option depends on how quickly you need the funds to post and what works best for you.

RIDOC uses Access Secure Deposits (AccessCorrections) for online and phone deposits. For the most straightforward path, go to AccessCorrections and follow the prompts to deposit to the correct inmate account.

Online and phone deposits come with a processing fee set by the deposit vendor. Fees vary by method and can change, so check the total cost before you submit payment.

Prefer to deposit in person? Head to the Inmate Accounts Office at 51 West Road, Bldg. 138, Cranston, RI 02920. This is also the address for mailed deposits, so save it.

The Inmate Accounts office window is open Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Closed on State holidays.

Photo ID required: RIDOC requires a photo ID to make a deposit into an inmate’s account.

Mailing Deposits

Mail deposits to: RI Department of Corrections, Inmate Accounts Office, 51 West Road, Bldg. 138, Cranston, RI 02920. Write the inmate's name and ID# on the memo line so the funds reach the correct account.

Bring photo ID: A photo ID is required to make any deposit into an inmate’s account at RIDOC.

Deposits are tied to the inmate's visiting list. After a 30-day grace period, you must be on the inmate's visiting list to deposit funds. During that initial 30 days (meant to give the inmate time to add people), anyone can deposit.

Used JPay in the past? You'll need a different method now. RIDOC no longer accepts JPay online deposits.

RIDOC offers several alternatives for funding an inmate account: AccessCorrections, CashPayToday, lobby kiosks, or in-person deposits at the Inmate Accounts Office. For online and phone deposits, AccessCorrections is the go-to option.
