Chaplains and Pastors: How to Schedule Spiritual Visits at Richmond County Jail
If you're a chaplain or pastor trying to visit someone at Richmond County Jail (Richmond County Detention Center), the process is straightforward once you know the approved window and entry rules. Here's the standard weekend option, how to request an exception, and what you can and can't bring in.
With prior notice, chaplains and pastors can visit inmates on Saturday for one hour during the 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM window. Give the facility enough lead time so staff can expect you and coordinate the visit.
Sunday visits are also available with prior notice, same one-hour format during the 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM window. If you're working around services or travel, this is the standard option to plan from.
Keep in mind: Any visit can be ended, canceled, suspended, or denied by the Sheriff or Jail Administrator for cause related to facility safety and security.
Need access outside the standard weekend 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM window? That requires approval from the Jail Administrator. You'll typically need to submit your request with at least 24 hours' notice before the visit.
Keep in mind: Even with notice and a request on file, the facility can still end, cancel, suspend, or deny a visit for safety and security reasons.
