How Visits Are Scheduled at West County Jail (and What Visitors Should Expect)

At West County Jail, social visits are scheduled by the inmate - not by visitors. Your loved one sets up the visit from inside the facility. You can't call in to book a time yourself. For everything else - what's allowed, what isn't - the facility directs visitors to the Visiting Rules and Regulations. Treat those rules as your playbook if you want to avoid a wasted trip.

Plan your group size ahead of time. West County Jail allows up to three visitors at once. If more than three people want to come, you'll need to rotate visits rather than showing up together.

The inmate has responsibilities too. They need to notify the supervising deputy about the visit and report to the visiting area 15 minutes before the scheduled time.

How Visits Are Scheduled at West County Jail (and What Visitors Should Expect)

Your timing matters. West County Jail requires visitors to arrive no later than 30 minutes before the end of any visiting block. Don't plan to show up near the end and hope to squeeze in - build in enough time to be on-site well before that cutoff.

  • Dress appropriately for the visit.
  • Maintain a standard of conduct that is not offensive to others.
  • Follow the facility’s visiting regulations - failure to follow them will result in cancellation of the visit.

Break a rule, and the consequences can extend beyond one missed visit. Violations may lead to a visit being terminated or canceled - and can also result in visiting privileges being suspended, restricted, revoked, or denied. For suspensions specifically, only the Facility Commander can suspend visiting privileges, unless the suspension is part of a formal disciplinary proceeding.

Note: Visitors can be excluded from visiting activities by the Facility Commander because of prior misconduct.

The public-facing guidance doesn't explain how visitors get notified that a visit has been scheduled or what the confirmation process looks like on your end. If you're unsure whether you're on the schedule - or want to confirm the exact time and requirements before you travel - contact the facility directly.
